It was my first retreat and I had lots of fun. Some of the things I did were: hung out with friends, played lots of volleyball and some basketball, ate mucho food, kinda learned how to ride unicycle, polished up my skateboarding skills, took pictures, went on a little cart ride, had an awesome sharing time, played pool, gave a concert, sang a lot, and got behind in sleep. So yeah, the weekend was busy. I'm tired of writing so I'll just post a few pictures.

An old truck, this shot was taken by my sis.

My brother's amazing reading pose, and lots of other people.

These were the little cart things we rode around in on Sunday afternoon.
I was gonna upload some other ones but I can't because it says something about the file size being to large. Hopefully I'll post them on facebook sometime.
    I could write more, but I won't.
        -Arlyn

Can't think of a title, sorry.

If you're looking for interesting facts and information about my life or anything connected with my life, you won't find it here. You know, this whole updating thing is a whole lot easier than I thought it was. --- -- - Arlyn
P.S. It's after 1 o'clock in the morning after my first week of school. I'm tired, random, unmotivated, uninspired, not in the mood to post{but I will anyway}, sleepy, dreary-eyed, and the list goes on for quite some time. I will spare the details.
But then again, some of you regular readers may just want to know the interesting, unknown, tiny, small or perhaps large, incredibly time-consuming, lengthly or perhaps shortly, details of my life. If so, perhaps you could ask me in person. Or don't if you don't want to. In any case, do what you feel led to do, unless it's something different than what you feel is ethically, economically, socially, politically, evironmentally, governmentally, or musically right. You must however realize that the time you spent reading, analyzing, deciphering, critiquing, etc. this post or not reading, analyzing, deciphering, critiquing, etc this post, is your time and not my time. I will take credit for taking the time to write this post, duh, who else would have written this post, but I'm not responsible for how you spend your time.

p.s. I wrote more than I was planning to.

Sunday, April 06, 2008

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!!!!

Well, as you can see I'm pretty excited. The Kansas Jayhawks advance to the NCAA Finals under coach Bill Self. I just got done watching the game and it was truly an awesome game. So they play Memphis on Monday night. Hopefully they will win. I am very excited as many other Kansans are. Wow, it takes a KU game to get me to post. Anyway enough about that.
I've gone to a lot of concerts since my last post. On Thursday night I went to see the Duttons. They were INCREDIBLE. Wow, they are like world class musicians and entertainers. I also saw Sally Harmon, John Mccutcheon, Concordia, and I think some other band but I forget now.
Last night we had school just for something different. It was awesome and everyone was really wild and in the mood for a party. You can check out some of the other school kids blogs who will hopefully update on this event.
Hmm, I think I'm done. I have a lot of things to say but not enough time and energy to say them, but at least I got the most important thing taken care of.
                                                                    Rock on Jayhawks!!!!!!!! -Arlyn
Thursday, February 07, 2008

    Hi again.
Hmm, my siblings came back from Paraguay. They had an awesome etc. time down down there. Here is a picture of the front of our old house, where I used to live.

It's not a super picture, but it's not to bad. Oh, here is another picture, I just can't resist not posting it. This is what happens when you shorten a car. Pretty sweet!! My brother has some other pictures on his blog if you are interested.

A couple of weeks ago, I got another little addition to my growing family of guitars. It's an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2. I LIKE IT!!! The first night I had it corresponded with the night Kevin, Jared, and I had a sleepover at church after the social. We tested the sound capabilities of the 20 watt amp that came with it and discovered that it could indeed produce loud noise. Anyway, we got to bed at five. Two and a half hours later we were up and super stoked for school. Jk about that last part. The next night I caught up by sleeping 15 hours straight. So here are some pictures of the guitar.

Yup, they're fairly random, I was in a hurry so...
Last Wednesday I had devotions at church. It wasn't to bad, but by that I'm not saying I wanna do it again.
So here I reach the conclusion of this post, Arlyn Miller
New Year, New Post

Hi everybody! blah, blah, blah, etc.
Our school choir gave programs a few weeks ago. They went fairly well. Much of the credit goes to our great director, Lyle Stutzman. After both programs we had parties. In other words, after each program we had a blast hanging out late into the night and eating food.
A few weeks ago we had the ice storm thing happen. Kinda cool in more ways than one, not so cool in other ways. This was the not so cool part. Now that takes care of explaining what I did in Christmas break.

On the last day of school, we had a taffy pull. It was lots of fun and the taffy turned out really well. I helped mix the ingredients and stir it, so that might have been part of the reason for its success.
A week or so ago we had Christmas. All the relatives came over to our house and ate, etc.
We had a two week break from school, also know as Christmas vacation. I spent my "vacation" doing all sort of things. I read a lot. I read The Oath(Frank Perretti), A Painted House(John Grisham), The Rainmaker(John Grisham), and I started on The Broker. That was for your information.
A few days ago, we had a New Years Eve Party. We, also known as the youth group, watched Facing the Giants, performed bag skits, ate, etc. Everybody left the original party at two. Some of us decided that, that was simply to early. I transferred my membership over to another party. I left at four, feeling slightly, umm, uh, tired, you guessed it.
Warning: This next paragraph may contain boring content. Recently, I read some stuff about the new year. A lot of the stuff I heard was from people called trend watchers. They simply watch the trends over long periods of time and do lots of surveys and predict what will happen in the near future. So here are some of my predictions for 2008.
Economy- The economy will see the biggest change. Their will be an economical collapse. At midsummer the dollar will be worth a dime. Oil will be at $200 a barrel. Their will also be international economy problems.
Politically- Of course the big change is that the new president will be taking the throne, or something like that. I predict Barack Obama will be our next president, but who knows. I also predict people will want to have an early election because of the economy and the current president's actions(No offense to you Bush fans out there, but..).
Environmentally- Little change. Scientists predict a severe wind related storm this spring. I'm not sure if I agree with them.
Ok, safe for the public again. My siblings are all in Paraguay. They plan to come home on Tuesday. I might post a few pictures that they took, if I have the time.
On Friday we had a "jam" session at Jacob's house. Mucho fun.
Our school plans to go to the Underground Salt Museum on Tuesday.
With these thoughts in mind, I will close. Till next time, Arlyn
Here is a pic taken in the summer and posted because it's winter.

Monday, December 03, 2007

Insert:(Common introductory paragraph saying Hi and explaining why I didn't post for so long)
Ok, let's see, a while ago I had chapel at school. That's always stressful and I was glad to get it over with. I talked about local evangelism, just in case you wanted to know.
The next big event was Thanksgiving. All the cousins came over to our house. After the usual Thanksgiving day meal, a big bunch of us went on our traditional four and a half mile walk. Some of us got the inspiration to push a bale so we went and pushed a bale. This shows how random we can get. Anyway, we hung around our place till fairly late. They convinced me to play guitar for everyone, so I did. After that, some of us went downstairs and had an official Johnny Cash jam or something like that. Lots of fun.
Last Tuesday night we had a party at our house which was a blast. Lots of pizza, pop, and relatives. Some interesting stuff happened but I'm too unmotivated to write about it.
Last Wednesday firearms deer season started. I hunted for three days and just saw does and a really small buck. So yesterday I decided to hunt a different place and got a six pointer out of it. I shot him twice both times in the neck. I know that's not the place to shoot deer, but my excuse is that he was running toward me when I shot him the first time. Anyway, here is a picture.

Last Thursday I turned sixteen, actually that's why we had the party on Tuesday night.
I'm still not into the whole Christmas thing, I suppose I might get a little enthusiasm as this event nears. Perhaps I'm still feeling the affects of Thanksgiving.
I'm out of things to say.
I think this post turned out to be a satisfactory, yet very boring post.
Thank you, so much, Arlyn
Joke of the post: A man walks into a bar. Two blondes are at a
table chanting, "6 months". Another blonde comes and joins the chant.
Another and then another until a dozen blondes are chanting "6 months".
Finally the man goes over and asks what the chanting is about. The
first blond says, "We are a team that solves jigsaw puzzles. Our last one
took 6 months to finish." The man says, "That is impressive." The
blonde replies, "I should say so, the box said 3 to 4 years."

I'm sure you all are wondering where I have been. Well, I've been to a lot of places and have done a lot of things, one that I didn't get done was updating my xanga.
About a decade ago I went to a concert to see Trent Wagler and the Steel Wheels. They played their instruments very well, but I wasn't too fond of their style. I do enjoy listening to his stuff now so I guess I have expanded my music tastes since the last time I updated. I would have termed them as lively bluegrass, yeah, I know the word makes some of you gag, but it's not so bad. Here is a picture of three of the band members, the concert I attended had another guy who played mandolin, and guitar.

Yesterday our school had a field trip. We went to Pratt, just in case you wanted to know, I'm sure you didn't. Anyway, we went to a museum containing various exhibits ranging from mounted goats with antlers on them to fish, birds, and what not else. Oh, that was just in the one museum. After lunch we went to another museum that contained various exhibits of various artifacts(yeah, no joke). Some of us found a court room that suited the purpose of proving whether such and such had committed a crime. I think the main crime we "solved" was whether Emily and Holli robbed Seth and killed his wife or whether something else happened. We went through all the procedures, except for the ones we didn't, of court room life. Some of the conclusions were that Seth was innocent, Emily is allergic to metal, can't point a gun, and is insane. She was sentenced to a life of nomadic wandering throughout the prairie. I wish her good luck. After the case was solved we went upstairs to a little church that they had in the museum. Here various ones proposed the marriage of two other high schoolers. I was voted in to get married but as luck would have it, no one wanted to be my wife. Can I really blame any girl for not wanting to be my wife? Well the ceremony proceeded and officially proclaimed me as a bachelor, so now I'm living up to my blog name. In the mean time Jared and John started playing on the organ they had there. I was enthralled, impressed, and also very impressed. Ahh, the joys of Canon in D played on an organ. I'm sorry to say that I have no pictures of the field trip, but so is life if you don't take a camera on the field trip.
Our regular teacher left on a trip for a few days so we have a substitute teacher. Joe Kuepher(I hope that's how you spell it) is teaching for a few days. Lots of great times.
Hey!! I just ran out of things to say. What a great feeling, especially when writing on xanga. Since this post is fairly large it should suffice for at least a month, at any rate don't expect another post soon.
                                                      Till next time, Arlyn
P.S. How many freshman does it take to change a light bulb.Four, one to put it in and three to keep his morale up by changing screen savers. Yeah, sorry to those of you who didn't get it, it's an inside joke.
Wednesday, September 26, 2007

This might be a fairly boring post to some of you, but for others it might, for a change, be interesting. I will start out by saying that I'm composing this post on a laptop so I will not put as many pictures on it as I might have other wise. About two weeks ago I got baptized. Also in my class were Kim Wickey and Elaine Yoder. In case someone who has never met me is reading this, I am the guy in the front.

In other news, I finally got a new guitar last Thursday night. I got it at Spark's Music, a very nice music store indeed. Anyway, it's a Fender acoustic/electric. I am very excited and have already committed more of my time to guitar. Some of my friends from school thought I should post pictures of it for them, so I will post one. This picture barely suffices to show its beauty. Perhaps I'll have to take it to school sometime and play. That would be fun. Well this would be my second guitar, and since I really don't need two guitars, I will become an instructor and teach my sister how to play. Perhaps we can play some classical duet sometime. That would be groovy.

I believe school hadn't started when I did my last post. Well, it started. In fact, it has been going for about 5 weeks. I have mixed feelings about it. The question is: Should I be glad school is going fast, or should I want school to go slow becaue I enjoy it and have a lot of fun at highschool? Perhaps if you would have heard some of the library discussions you could have gathered some of my feelings on this subject. It is indeed a very debatable matter.

Because of lack of sleep and time spent playing guitar, I will, unfortunately, have to close.

                                                    Arlyn

P.S. Did anyone catch on that I was in a very random mood when I typed this post?

P.S. Can you guess what I'm gonna go do now? If you guessed playing guitar then you are so right.

The time has come for an update.

Well, I've actually had some fairly interesting stuff happen in the last few weeks.
About two weeks ago we had a dad and his son from San Jose, Costa Rica here to help on our farm for a week. The dad's name was Anthony and the boy's was Ben David. Anthony is a teacher and knows my uncle well and so that's how the connection was made. They were in Texas for a family reunion and then drove up here. Note: They drove here in a 1970's-1980's Mercedes Benz convertible, in almost new condition. Anyway Ben David and I had a lot of fun together and became fairly good friends. Here is Ben David playing ping-pong.

In other news: HE'S BACK. After spending some time at Kerschner's Taxidermy in east Hutch, my buck is back. I got him back on Wednesday and now he's hanging in my room. Unfortunately this will rule out all crazy juggling activities. Anyway, I just ran down and shot a few pictures of it, so here they are.

We have relatives here and relatives coming so that is gonna be lots of fun.
Here are two pictures I took.

Well, my guitar is feeling a little neglected so I will close.
                                                            Arlyn
Fast Post.

Fast because I don't have much time.
Big News: Flooding in Kansas. Who would of guessed it. Here are some pics.
This is north of our place, probably 3/4 feet deep in the middle. LOTS of water. And by the way I did absolelutely no editing on these pictures, so they will consequently not be as nice.

This is just a picture of water going over a culvert.
One nice thing about Kansas is it's sunsets so here are a few cloud/sunset pics.

I guess I really had the reflection thing going.

And here's mister random pic of the day. Not really random it's just a pic but anyway.

Other news includes.
I went to the skatepark today. Lots of fun. The definition of skateboarding to me is a person clumsily attempting to go up and down ramps while hurting himself in any way possible.
Hmmm, can't think of anything else. Bye, Arlyn No pun intended.
